Google Jagger Update Dated: - 16th Oct 2005 - 18th Nov 2005

Google once again changed its algorithms in the winter of 2005 and named it the Google Jagger Update. This was another update in line with all the other updates to fight spam and discourage unethical practices. After the Florida Update, many within the SEO industry considered this update disastrous as it completely re-hauled the methods used by search marketers and optimizers to increase rankings of websites.

Like its predecessor the Bourbon Update, the Jagger update was also introduced in three phases.  The Phase one was reporting and penalizing of spam which was collected and indexed at http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html. Strict action was taken against any website found guilty of spam. Google increased data centers to store and index web pages.

With the introduction of the Jagger Update to put an end to excessive reciprocal linking which was without relevancy. Authoritative sites were given prominence with the introduction of this update. Many webmasters state that this update dealt with the canonical issues related to websites. Another feature that Google believed was being misused was the Blogs on the Internet which became content sites managed with the purpose to gain rankings on keywords or keyphrases. These Blogs contained link spam and were not relevant to the results of SERPs.
